Premises Officer

£21,189 - £21,968 per annum + Out of Hours Payment
We are looking to recruit a Premises Officer to undertake a variety of maintenance duties at our main offices in Narborough. These may include general DIY duties such as basic carpentry, plumbing, decorating, opening and closing of buildings, meet and greet during evening Council meetings, setting up of meeting rooms, as well as dealing with any emergency spillages or cleaning duties throughout the working day, and storing equipment safely in the building.
Working alongside one other colleague the regular working pattern will be:
Week One 0600 – 1400 Mon-Thurs and 5:15 – 1330 Friday
Week Two 10:30 – 18:30 Mon – Thurs and 10:30 – 18:00 Friday
In addition, scheduled and non-scheduled meetings may result in finish times outside of these hours for which the out of hours payment is payable. This is likely to be approximately 80 hours per annum.

Our Building Control Partnership is going from strength to strength and we are now looking to recruit a permanent Senior Building Control Surveyor or a Building Control Surveyor to join our exciting new partnership which includes Blaby District Council, Harborough District Council, Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, Melton Borough Council, Oadby & Wigston Borough Council and Rutland County Council.
Alongside the usual knowledge of Building Regulations we would expect you to uphold our high levels of customer service with a proactive approach to securing future business. Applicants must have a positive team working attitude and be customer focused and business orientated.
The ideal candidate will be a Member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers or Royal institute of Chartered Surveyors.
A building control career with us offers the opportunity for progression as this is a growing service. We offer a salary for a Senior Building Control Surveyor of up to £43,516 or up to £39,493 for a Building Control Surveyor both with an Essential Car Allowance. Hours of work are 37 per week.

The Neighbourhood Services Department are looking for a careful and responsible driver to join us and drive our top of the range waste collection vehicles, assisting with bin loading duties, and delivering a first-class front-line service to residents of the district.

Housing Related Support Officer x 2 posts

This role is an Essential Car User post and will receive payments based on the Council’s Essential Car User policy
The Housing Enablement Team (HET) are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable individual to provide housing related support to patients in hospital in order to assist them to be safely discharged home or into new accommodation.
Your role will be to provide short-term case management and organise support services for individuals and families to enable discharge. You will support patients to secure and move into independent accommodation or to return home, assisting with the practicalities of moving. You will supply food parcels and heaters, assist with utilities and provide practical benefit/income support. You will also be required to visit properties to assess their state for discharge and arrange and meet with contractors in order to facilitate cleaning or clearances of cluttered properties.
You will have previous experience of working within a support, care or housing setting dealing with vulnerable people with a range of support needs, undertaking basic assessments, support planning, carrying out action plans and reporting outcomes.
You will also have an understanding of issues facing vulnerable people, including those with mental health issues, with housing related support needs including dependency needs, tenancy sustainment, homelessness and general life skills.
This post benefits from hybrid working. You will be based from home or from office space located at the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI). The post will cover the three UHL hospitals (LRI, Glenfield & Leicester General), all Community Hospitals in Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland, the Bradgate Mental Health Unit, the Mental Health Rehabilitation Units and the Mental Health services for Older Persons (MHSOP) wards.

Neighbourhood Services Team Leader
(District Cleansing)

The Neighbourhood Services Department are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can directly line manage a team of District Cleansing staff.
You will be working from our modern and well-equipped Whetstone depot, your key duties will be to lead the service, ensuring it is carried out effectively and efficiently throughout the Blaby District.
You will be resilient enough to successfully face daily challenges, liaising with residents, Parish Councils and members staff of all levels to ensure that the Blaby District is kept clean.
Change is a constant, and you will be a key individual in leading this within your team, recommending improvements and ensuring they are implemented.
Although direct experience of a district cleansing operation is not essential, we are looking for an individual who can combine the skills of day-to-day operational supervision with the ability to be analytical, positive, creative, productive and practically minded with the redesign and ongoing review of the service.

The Neighbourhood Services Department are looking for positive and enthusiastic people who will work as part of a large team delivering a first-class waste collection service to the residents of Blaby District. Working from our modern and well-equipped depot, you will be provided with the necessary work wear to prepare you for working outside in all weather conditions. Our Income and Collection Team collect Council Tax, National Non-Domestic Rates, Housing Benefit Overpayments, and other income owing to the Council.
The role of the Income and Collection Advisor involves handling calls from customers, agreeing repayment plans, following up on agreed actions and taking enforcement action if required.
Ideally you will have financial or enforcement experience, have excellent customer services skills and be organised and able to plan your own workload. An ability to navigate around basic IT systems is essential along with a desire to learn new information and skills.
