Election of Chairman


The Clerk invited nominations for the election of Chairman of the Wigston Parva Parish Meeting.

The minutes of the meeting held on 12 May 2016, as circulated, were approved as a correct record.


Matters arising from the Minutes


There were no matters to discuss.


Any Other Business


Fly Tipping


The Chairman thanked Blaby District Council and Councillors for the excellent response regarding fly tipping.


Highway Closure


The Chairman reported that the signage for the closure of the B4114 was very misleading and Cllr Sheila Scott  confirmed that she would report the matter to County Councillor Ernie White.


Wigston Parva Church


The Chairman reported that there was a hole in the church floor and he enquired whether there would be a grant available to help with the repair of the hole in the floor.


Cllr Sheila Scott said that she would look into this and let the Chairman know.




The Chairman advised the meeting that in respect of the Rail Hub – the disused railway line there had been nothing to report.


The meeting discussed the proposal of a change of use of agricultural building to a dwelling house at 1 Church Lane, Wigston Parva, as the site was in the Wigston Parva Conservation Area.


A5 Development


The meeting discussed the potential development on the A5 and was advised that there had not been any planning permission granted.


Cllrs Iain Hewson and Sheila Scott contributed to this item and confirmed that they would take the matter to Blaby District Council.


Signage Junction A5/ B114


The current signage was discussed by the Chairman and  residents and Cllr Sheila Scott said that she would be attending a meeting where the A5 may be on the agenda, she said that if it came up she would speak at the meeting.


Coventry Airport


The Chairman reported that there was a plan to alter the  flight path to take the holding circle out of Warwickshire and that it would be directed over Leicestershire and the Fosse Villages which may result in noise and pollution.


A consultation would take place and the Chairman advised the meeting that if residents wanted to put their views then they could contact the Chairman for the email address for the consultation.


Cllrs and residents discussed the possible plan and the Cllrs confirmed that they would take the matter to Blaby District Council to gain information


The Barn?


The Chairman reported that their had been no further developments of any planning consents in respect of the land adjacent to the Church, residents stated that the Church belonged to Wigston Parva and that it was a Church of England  listed building.


Village Safety and Good Neighbours


The Chairman advised the meeting that every house in the village was now occupied and that there were now 8 children in the village and that  their  safety needed to be considered especially when deliveries and work was being carried out to properties, residents discussed ways that safety could be improved


It was agreed that if residents were having deliveries or any work undertaken to their properties they would ask the workmen to drive with caution when entering the village and be aware that there may be children walking or playing on the green.
